baha'i temple

the only baha'i temple in north america, and i live maybe two miles from it......

i dragged a tripod along, and tried a few hdr shots of it.... it was a nice cloudy day, so i tried to bring the clouds out without making it look too fake..... hdr has that grungy quality that it brings to everything, it didn't really flatter the building, it more just made it look like it was set in one of the lord of the rings movies..... but there it is. i might go back and try reprocessing a few of the hdrs, see if a decent mask and cut layering job will bring the tonal range without the grunge..... so, maybe more to come?

  1. Hi Tim,

I'm not a professional photographer so I don't understand the techniques you were using to take the photos of the Baha'i Temple but I was so pleased to see them! (I'm a Baha'i and have a Google alert for news and blogs that include the name Baha'i and your page came up on the search results today.)

For some reason, my favorite photo was the little purple flower and the dead daisy! (The Baha'i Writings say that "Every created thing in the whole universe is but a door leading into His knowledge..." -- even a dead daisy and a little purple flower!)

I live near the Temple also and I think it is most beautiful when the sky is cloudless and bright blue... Just magnificent.

I wish you all the best with your 365 project! (Great idea!)

    Warmly, Ellen from Wilmette

  2. The detail on the temple is just incredible; although the construction makes it look like a big priest hat. The Kubrick in me loves the symmetrical shots.

I so sneaky! (nothing on my blog yet I just made a page) Funny how my username shows up retardedly on most pages. Ah well. - D.S.
