day 291 - two dogs

our dog plays with the neighbor's dog a lot. they're pretty much best friends at this point. anyways, our neighbor asked me if i could take a picture of the two of them sometime. i think she meant a snapshot or something like that, but i took it in another direction and did a studio-ish portrait thing. and this is it.

i shot each one separately, since there's no way either one would hold still if the other was around. so the camera's on a tripod, there's a 40" softbox camera right, and a honl gridded sb-28 camera left doing that gradient on the background.

drop both pictures into photoshop, mask out critical areas, and there it is. two dogs.

day 290 - shadow side

was working a variation of day 289, with an added blue slash light, then decided to turn it on it's ear. set up some backlighting with the softbox, and the reflector for fill. blue slash still in effect, and that's it. always cool to shoot the dark side of the face.

day 289 - zombie apocalypse

wanted to light with a lot of reflection coming up from below. stuck my hands out to see how much was coming up, and liked the shot, so i kept it.

day 287 - cracked

flour + water + face + hair dryer + camera + half hour shower to remove = this.

bonus image:

day 286 - hoodie

got a bit cold spraying water on myself, so i switched to a sweatshirt. desaturated things a bit, and that's that.

setup shot:

day 285 - spray bottle 2

same basic idea as 284, but this time with two differently gelled lights backlighting the droplets. you can see with this one the mist is more out of focus, it has a very different effect than when all the droplets are sharp.
