day 314 - half and half

not technically well lit, but i like the contrast across the face.

setup shot:

day 313 - hard and melancholy

got a hard light above and behind, a soft light above and in front, and a reflector in front and below. and that's about it.

day 312 - look up

i wanted to attempt some above-softly-lit stuff, so i threw together this. did a floor skip off the hard wood for some color contrast-shadow detail, and that's about it. i like it quite a bit, but the head angle is an area of non-compromise. even looking straight ahead means the hat brim will prevent light from getting onto my face, and that's a lot of what makes this picture good.

day 311 - on white

this is probably my first serious attempt at shooting on a white with no detail background. i did some photoshop processing on it, in the original picture there was a lot of objects around me in the frame. so i cropped close to myself, and then expanded the canvas size in photoshop. the result is that it appears as if i was in a large empty room, but i was actually in my smallish crowded living room instead.

setup shot:

day 310 - hard above

just the typical.

day 309 - blued

no setup shot for this one, it's just a muted blue hard light camera left and a bit soft umbrella camera right. simple and to the point.

day 308 - soft rimmed

soft on one side, hard the other.
